Is The Leapfrog LeapPad a Good Buy for My Child?

!±8± Is The Leapfrog LeapPad a Good Buy for My Child?

How many times do you frantically look for your missing smart phone, iPad, or laptop only to find your four-year-old huddled in the closet playing with it? Let's hope he hasn't accidentally called Pakistan and revealed any military secrets, or accidentally deleted all your photos!

Kids aged four to nine years of age are in a prime learning phase and gadgets that they love to use will help them with their learning.

LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet

Introduce them to the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer. It's like an iPad for kids, and it might just be the thing that makes them forget your iPhone!

The LeapFrog Explorer recommends it for four to nine year-olds; however, a technically savvy three year old is also capable of enjoying it.

Pick from two colors. The LeapFrog Explorer pink model is fun for little girls, and there is a green LeapFrog Explorer for children with other color preferences.

The Technical Stuff You Want to Know

The LeapPad Explorer itself is sturdy and built to withstand the bumps and knocks of the average active child. It's a lightweight 1.5 pounds, and the dimensions are 1"x5.1"x7", so it is very portable. It has a stylus, and an extra in case it's lost.

The LeapPad requires four AA batteries, and because your child will not want to put this down, it will go through them quickly. Fortunately, the LeapPad Tablet works with rechargeable batteries.

LeapPad Applications

The LeapFrog LeapPad comes loaded with many games, eBooks, and applications, and you have options to download more to your child's Explorer Learning Tablet.

The LeapPad Explorer has 2GB of memory, which supports all of the games, e-books, and applications your child could possibly want.

A scan of other LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer reviews indicates that most parents absolutely love the LeapPad tablet. It also seems to be the consensus that there are vast improvements from the Leapster Explorer to the new LeapFrog LeapPad, but the great news is that if you already have the Leapster, those games are compatible with the LeapPad Explorer tablet, so you won't have to go out and buy the new LeapPad just to use your old games!

The only con that users note is the cost of downloading additional applications. But most users are happy with the amount of preloaded apps. Keep in mind, too, the cost of having to replace your iPad if your child breaks it! A few extra purchased LeapPad apps are insignificant in comparison.

So, yes: I do think the LeapPad tablet is a good buy and will provide your child with endless possibilities for education and entertainment and is a great choice for a birthday or Christmas gift.

For a more in-depth review, advice including the cheapest place to buy it take a look at Leapfrog LeapPad Learning Tablet.
